Launch of the Clinical Placement Toolkit for Nursing Students in Long-Term Care

Clinical Placement Toolkit for Nursing Students in Long-Term Care

We are pleased to share the release of the Clinical Placement Toolkit for Nursing Students in Long-Term Care, a new statewide resource developed to support high-quality, consistent, and collaborative clinical placement experiences across long-term care settings.

View the Clinical Placement Toolkit for Nursing Students in Long-Term CareThe toolkit was created in response to shared needs identified by nursing programs, long-term care providers, and workforce partners. It is designed to strengthen communication between nursing programs and clinical sites, clarify roles and responsibilities, and support student readiness, safety, and learning. The toolkit includes guidance on clinical placement communication processes, suggested student orientation elements, role clarification, and practical tools to support each phase of the clinical placement lifecycle.

This resource reflects the collaboration and joint leadership of the Massachusetts Senior Care Association and the MassHire Hampden County Workforce Board, with invaluable contributions from nursing faculty, long-term care leaders, and workforce partners across the state.
The toolkit will be disseminated broadly to nursing programs and long-term care facilities statewide. In addition, a statewide webinar will be held in February to walk stakeholders through the toolkit, highlight key components, and discuss practical implementation strategies. More details on the webinar will be shared shortly.

Thank you for your continued partnership and commitment to strengthening nursing education and elevating long-term care as a meaningful and essential clinical learning environment.
