ESOL Programs
English as a Second Language (ESL) or English for Speakers of a Second Language (ESOL) are two common names for programs that can help you learn basic English.
In the classes you will learn:
- To read and write English
- Conversation skills
- Basic vocabulary words
Most classes are free. To find a class near you, you can:
- Contact a local career center
- Call the Massachusetts Adult Literacy hotline at (800) 447-8844
- Call the United Way’s Mass 2-1-1 line
Mass 2-1-1 has people who speak many languages to help you. Someone will answer the phone any day or time. Just dial 211 from any phone in Massachusetts.
